Editorial Desk

Dear Reader,

This month’s Mirror Of The Sun (MOTS) will conclude the story "Dawn in Ụmụogu". Synopsis to that is italicized -

Set in a village in the eastern part of Nigeria, it portrays the story of a maiden who through the cruelties of life becomes the heroine. Rejected by the society even before her birth, Akwaugo finds a new life and existence with her grand uncle whom she thought was her grandfather. He taught her herbal medicine such that became important to neighbouring villages but her village. This was due to the banishment of her late mother, Urenna, on false accusation of incest,  and her grandparents for associating with her.

Akwaugo did not allow the rejection she suffered to becloud her sense of reasoning. When duty called, she stepped up to help her people retain the sceptre of leadership in the royal family, a family loved by the whole village due to the king’s kindness. This she did by restoring the health of the king’s only son and heir to the throne when all hope was lost. She therefore became their heroine by that singular act of kindness. Having successfully restored hope of the village, she and her grand uncle were accepted back to the village.
